Month, Full-time Our Mission:
Nurture the dreams of all students and empower all students to contribute to a better world. Scope of Responsibilities Teach as an early childhood teacher; responsible for implementing the KPS pre-kindergarten curriculum and instructional strategies in an assigned pre-kindergarten classroom. Performance Responsibilities Plan and implement developmentally appropriate instructions for students (including individual, small group, and whole-group instruction). Monitor student progress in the school environment, including academic achievement and behaviors. Establish positive classroom management techniques and discipline procedures in the context of social and emotional learning. Maintain a safe and orderly environment. Align goals and objectives from individual students to meet the needs of all students. Uses data-based decision-making to problem solve challenging situations. Maintain contact with parents/guardians of students. Evaluates student progress based on observations, data, and assessments, determine goals/objectives. Prepare report cards, educational records, data collection, and other forms. Participate in building-level meetings and staff development activities. Perform other duties related to the PEEP program as assigned by the Early Childhood Administrator. Minimum Qualifications BS or BA degree. Michigan teacher certification with Early Childhood (ZS or ZA) endorsement. Possess technology skills. Ability to plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities for preschool-age children. Ability to observe and evaluate the growth of children within an appropriate classroom setting over an extended period of time. Ability to establish and utilize positive classroom management techniques and discipline procedures. Ability to plan, implement and manage the curriculum through a variety of teaching strategies. Preferred Qualifications Successful experience working with a diverse population in an urban setting. Experience working with pre-kindergarten-age children who have disabilities. Minimum three years of successful experience working with children and families in an urban educational setting and/or diverse/multi-cultural setting.
