Job Description:
An Interventionist provides Tier 2 and Tier 3 direct, targeted intervention instructional lessons to small groups of students to accelerate student learning. This academic support is designed to broaden, extend and deepen the learning experience for identified at-risk students. This support is provided to students in flexible small groups. Students receiving this support are determined through the study of student data. In collaboration with the classroom teacher(s), the Interventionist facilitates the instructional experiences to use with these students that meet their specific learning goals.
Specific Responsibilities:
Engages in research-based best-practices that promote a successful learning environment for all students. Utilizes appropriate content standards and benchmarks in preparing, delivering, and assessing student learning. Work during designated times with small groups of at-risk students. Contribute information to and assist in maintaining assessment records. Make recommendations of next steps for instruction to the classroom teacher. Maintain ongoing communication with the classroom teacher about student progress and assessment documentation. Differentiate small group instruction to meet student needs. Support procedural building needs. Participate in building professional development.
Qualifications:
A valid teaching certificate, preferred. If no teaching certificate, then a valid substitute permit with two years of relevant experience is required. Registered as a substitute for MPS through Edustaff. A demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and successfully with families of students. A willingness to commit to ongoing professional development. Ability to successfully manage small groups of students. Ability to interact in a positive manner with students, families, and staff creating positive relationships. Experience working in a school setting.
Work Schedule:
7.5 hours per day with a meal break. This position will work the teacher calendar of 183 days for 26/27. The interventionist will be required to arrive 15 minutes prior to student arrival and scheduled to leave 15 minutes after student dismissal. Planning time will be determined by the building administrator.
Rate of Pay:
$200 per day
