Category Schools - Paraprofessional Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding contract role supporting students as a substitute paraprofessional in a vibrant school environment for the 2026-2027 academic year. This position offers flexibility with per diem scheduling and the opportunity to positively impact students' educational experiences by stepping in during staff absences.
Key Qualifications:
At least two years of college credits from an accredited institution, an associate degree or higher, or a passing score on an approved academic assessment (ParaPro, ParaPathways, The Master Teacher), OR meet the competencies in the MDE approved grid. PCA certificate (or the willingness to earn one—free, takes under an hour). Minimum of one year's professional experience working with school-aged children. Ideally, two or more years of experience as a school-based paraprofessional. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Ability to adapt quickly to diverse classroom settings and needs. Commitment to supporting the success and well-being of students.
Role Responsibilities:
Provide direct support to classroom teachers and students as a substitute paraprofessional or education assistant. Assist with classroom activities, behavior management, and individualized learning. Help implement educational plans for special education and general education students. Foster an inclusive and supportive classroom environment. Step in as needed to cover absent paraprofessional staff throughout the school year.
