The On-Call Substitute Teacher at Groves Academy will join us in our mission to build confidence, success, and purpose through transformative learning experiences. This position will be supported by our collaborative teaching style and our small class sizes of 8-10 students. Duties and Responsibilities:
Demonstrate a commitment to safeguarding children as a priority Plan and prepare learning activities and lessons Assist with study skills, math, reading, and writing classes Assist with student progress evaluation and report-writing Works effectively with others in planning and evaluating learning activities Performs other related duties as assigned Job Specifications:
Education, Experience, and Credentials Four-year degree in Education Classroom experience Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of and sensitivity to the special needs of students Able to treat each student with respect, fairness, flexibility, and in a professional manner Able to use appropriate technology, including MS Office software (Word and Excel), Internet, communication systems, online grading systems, and assistive technology Able to select and use training/instructional methods and procedures appropriate for the situation when teaching new things Able to clearly and effectively communicate information and ideas in writing, verbally, and using a variety of media, so students will understand Able to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words, written material, multimedia, and audiovisual sources Able to display high levels of customer service, responding promptly and thoroughly to the inquiries and needs of individuals both internal and external to the organization, as applicable Understand and maintain the confidential nature of student, organization and employee information, including and in accordance with HIPAA regulations Core Values in Practice:

Physical Requirements Necessary to Perform This Job Incumbent must be able to: Hear, speak, and effectively communicate in the English language, including following oral and written instructions, in order to communicate with people inside and outside the organization Sit or stand at a desk for extended periods of time and perform long hours of work sitting at a computer and in meetings Apply manual dexterity and visual acuity for computer keyboarding and office equipment use, and review detailed reports and information Move around the school and office or classroom area repeatedly or prolonged times throughout the day. Work a flexible schedule, including attending and presenting at events and meetings that occur outside of typical work hours as required/scheduled Tools and Equipment Used Must be able to use computers, telephones, photocopiers, and related office equipment Must be able to lift/move up to 10-35 pounds occasionally depending on your position Work Environment The work environment is indoors May occasionally participate in indoor or outdoor off-site student activities for field trips, recess, etc. This job description does not necessarily list all the functions or accountabilities of the job.
