Job Summary The Substitute Teacher supports the mission of the Catholic school by maintaining a structured, faith-centered classroom environment in the absence of the regular teacher. This role ensures continuity of instruction while upholding Catholic values, teachings, and traditions. Job Responsibilities Implement lesson plans left by the regular classroom teacher Maintain a positive, respectful, and faith-filled classroom environment Supervise students in the classroom, hallways, cafeteria, and during other school activities Encourage student behavior that reflects Christian values such as kindness, respect, and responsibility Lead or participate in daily prayers and support religious activities as appropriate Adapt teaching methods to meet the needs of diverse learners Manage classroom behavior in accordance with school policies Communicate effectively with school staff regarding student progress and any issues that arise Ensure the safety and well-being of all students at all times Job Requirements Bachelor's degree preferred (or in progress, depending on school requirements) Prior teaching or classroom experience preferred Practicing Catholic preferred or willingness to support the mission of Catholic education Strong classroom management and communication skills Ability to follow lesson plans and adapt as needed Background check and safe environment training (e.g., Virtus or diocesan requirements) The Archdiocese of St. Louis Catholic Education and Formation is an Equal Opportunity Employer and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any kind.
