Position Summary The Substitute Teacher is responsible for maintaining a productive learning environment in the absence of the regular classroom teacher. This role follows lesson plans, manages classroom behavior, supports student learning, and ensures the safety and well-being of all students while adhering to school policies and procedures. Key Responsibilities Implement lesson plans and instructional activities provided by the regular teacher Maintain a positive, safe, and orderly classroom environment Supervise students in classrooms, hallways, cafeterias, and other school settings as assigned Adapt to various grade levels, subjects, and classroom needs Manage student behavior in accordance with school policies and expectations Take attendance and maintain accurate records as required Communicate relevant information regarding student progress, behavior, or concerns to the regular teacher and administration Support students' academic, social-emotional, and behavioral needs Follow all school procedures related to safety, emergency protocols, and confidentiality Collaborate professionally with school staff and administrators Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent (required) Substitute teaching certificate, permit, or eligibility as required by state regulations Previous experience working with children or youth preferred Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to follow written lesson plans and instructions Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism Flexible, dependable, and adaptable to changing assignments Preferred Skills & Attributes Experience in classroom supervision or educational settings Effective classroom management skills Ability to engage students and maintain instructional continuity Comfort using classroom technology and educational tools Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities Positive attitude and commitment to student success Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, staff, and administrators Willingness to serve across multiple grade levels and subject areas as needed
