With Supervisor Approval Purpose:
Supports students impacted by cognitive, behavioral, and/or learning disabilities so that each student can access the highest quality education. Assists in teaching, tends to the needs of students, and collects data to meet educational goals. Works with the classroom teacher to provide accommodations, tailor lesson plans, and monitor student progress.
Essential Job Functions:
  • Attend work in a regular, reliable, and punctual manner.
  • To "telework" when requested by the District.
  • Assist teacher with clerical duties and classroom routines.
  • Administers classroom assignments for purpose of supporting instructional process.
  • Communicates with teachers and parents for the purpose of assisting in evaluating progress and/or implementing IEP objectives.
  • Monitor individuals and/or groups of students in a variety of settings (e.g., classroom, playground, field trips, library, lunchroom, bus loading/unloading, etc.) for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment.
  • Report observations and incidents to appropriate instructional or administrative personnel, relating to specific students (e.g., accidents, fights, inappropriate social behavior, violations of rules, safety conditions, etc.).
  • Responds to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns and/or directing to appropriate personnel for resolution.
  • Assists students, individually or in small groups with lesson assignments for purpose of reinforcing learning concepts under direction of teacher.
  • Assist students with mobility needs (may involve lifting, toileting, etc.) and in appropriate cases, with medical assistance.
  • Covering a class when a substitute teacher is unavailable.
