To Be Determined Job Description The Valley Park School District is seeking a talented educator for a long-term substitute teaching assignment as a Middle School Science Teacher.
Description:
Valley Park Middle School seeks a highly qualified, student-centered Long-Term Substitute Science Teacher. VPMS is committed to challenging students to achieve academic excellence and personal success by providing personalized, high-quality instruction and a challenging, relevant curriculum within a warm, caring, student-centered environment.
The Successful Candidate:
Is knowledgeable about middle school philosophy and the developmental needs of adolescents and will be able to present the curriculum using a problem-centered approach. Demonstrates appropriate long and short-term preparation for classroom instruction. Holds high expectations for all students and sees themselves as facilitators of student learning. Organizes and uses a variety of teaching techniques, strategies, materials, and technology to maximize the learning of each student, individually and in group settings. Assesses student progress, provides students and parents with specific feedback, and uses the results to adjust instruction as needed. Provides opportunities for academic support and challenge. Takes responsibility for teaching the District curriculum as outlined in the curriculum documents. Demonstrates an understanding of how knowledge in their subject areas is created, organized, and linked to other disciplines and life experiences. Keep abreast of current developments in their field and continue to deepen understanding of the discipline(s). Establishes and maintains a functional, attractive, orderly, and safe classroom environment that is conducive to student learning and builds a sense of community.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and follow lesson plans and instructional materials. Provide individualized and small-group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student and class. Ensure instruction aligns with engaging, developmentally appropriate learning experiences. Communicate regularly with parents. Establish and maintain standards of behavior to achieve a safe and effective learning atmosphere. Evaluate students' academic and social growth, keep appropriate records, and prepare grade reports as needed. Identifies student needs, makes appropriate referrals, and develops strategies for individual education plans. Creates an environment for learning through functional and attractive displays, interest centers, and exhibits of students' work. Other duties as assigned by the building administration.

Certification:
Missouri Substitute Teaching Certificate--REQUIRED Valid teaching certificate in the State of Missouri for Middle School Science__
