SUB PAY RATES
Substitute Teacher
  • Certified $140 Retired Substitute Teacher
  • Certified $150 (must be retired from a public school district) Building Sub
  • Certified
  • $150 Certified Long-term sub
  • $160
ADDITIONAL BONUS:
If a certified sub teacher works 55 full days per semester (Sept
  • end of Jan; Feb
  • June), they will receive a $250 bonus at the end of each semester.
  • Building Sub Teachers are assigned to one specific building while the students are in attendance.
Each morning, the main office secretary will assign the building sub to whatever classroom needs a sub. The building sub will follow the lesson plans left by the teacher. If no classrooms require a sub teacher, the building sub will be assigned other work as directed by administration. Very occasionally, another school may need additional subs and the building sub may be asked to help out at the other school. Building subs must commit to work for a minimum of 4 days/week (5 days preferred) for a full semester. (Building subs are assigned on an annual basis from the existing sub teacher list.)
ADDITIONAL BUILDING SUB BONUS
If a Building Sub works 80 full days per semester (Sept
  • end of Jan; Feb
  • June), he/she will receive a $500 bonus at the end of each semester. This would be in addition to the per diem sub bonus of $250.
  • Long Term Subs (LTS): A properly certified per diem substitute who works for the same teacher for 30-89 consecutive days is classified as a Long-Term Substitute.
LTS pay begins on the first day of the assignment. Once the assignment ends, compensation reverts to the standard per diem rate. LTS pay does not apply when substituting for a Teaching Assistant, covering only part of a teacher's scheduled day, or when the substitute does not hold certification in the same subject area as the teacher. If a building sub moves into a LTS position, they would forfeit the Building Sub Bonus. They would still be eligible for the Sub Teacher Bonus. LTS positions are determined by a teacher being on an approved Leave of Absense (LOA) of 30 working days or more, OR; in the case of an unexpected extended absence of a teacher, once the sub hits the 30th consecutive day, the LTS pay will be paid retroactively back to day one of the assignment. In the event of a break in service during the assignment, the pay rate will revert to the per diem rate of $140 per day until 30 consecutive days are completed. After 30 consecutive days are worked, retroactive LTS pay will be issued effective from the beginning of that 30-day period. This is still considered a per diem sub teacher position and the LTS will be eligible for the $250 Bonus each semester. (Long Term Subs are appointed by principals as needed.)
PLEASE DO NOT MAIL, FAX OR E-MAIL ANY RESUMES, LETTERS OF INTEREST, REFERENCE LETTERS, TRANSCRIPTS OR CERTIFICATIONS TO THE SCHOOL DISTRICT. ALL OF THE ABOVE SHOULD BE ATTACHED TO YOUR APPLICATION ON-LINE.
Applications are reviewed on a continual and as-needed basis.
