A Substitute Teacher teaches or supervises classes for teachers who are away on leave or sick. May substitute for teachers at several different schools or school districts. May substitute for one day or for a longer term absence; may follow lesson plans developed by the regular teacher, or work with teacher who will be out to create new lesson plans and assignments.
Long Term Substitute Manlius Pebble Hill School (MPH) seeks an experienced and passionate Strings and Orchestra Teacher to join our faculty from October 2026 to February 2027. This temporary, full-time, long-term substitute position offers compensation of $23,500 - $24,500 for the term. Primary Job Responsibilities •
Instruction:
Teach Lower School (Grades 1-5) Strings Lessons and Orchestra, Middle School Orchestra (Grades 6-8), and Upper School Concert Orchestra (Grades 9-12). •
Advising:
Act as an advisor to a small group of Upper School students to oversee and support their academic, social, and emotional development. •
Curriculum Facilitation:
Utilize an appropriate curriculum to guide and develop strings curriculum implementation tailored to students' strengths and needs. •
Extracurricular Activities:
Preparing and chaperoning students to local and state music festivals, including some evenings and weekends, and leading students in seasonal evening performances on campus. •
Community Engagement:
Collaborate with students, families, and colleagues to promote and sustain a robust strings and orchestral program. Requirements •
Education:
A bachelor's degree in music, music education, or a related field is required; a graduate degree is preferred. •
Experience:
A minimum of two years working with a diverse range of students in a school setting is preferred; independent school experience is highly desirable. •
Skills:
