Job Description
We are currently accepting applications for a Substitute Teacher at our licensed day care facility located in Syracuse, NY. The position we are currently trying to fill is for a substitute teacher here at Upstate Child Care Center. The job entails covering any employee's scheduled time off or last-minute sick day call-ins. This means that you could be working in an infant classroom (6 months - 12 months of age), a mini-toddler classroom (12 months - 24 months), a toddler classroom (2 year olds), a three year old classroom, a four year old classroom, or as a "floater" which covers multiple rooms over the course of the shift, on any given day. The shift would be determined by the absent teacher's shift that needs to be covered on that day. A standard shift would be 7:30-4:00, 9:30-6:00, or anywhere between. Typically, we like to give the substitute teachers a calendar before the beginning of the month so they can agree to dates and can plan well in advance. On occasion, you might get a call early in the morning or the night before asking if you can cover a sick employee's shift.
