LICENSED SUBSTITUTE
Additional Information:

Applications for our Licensed Substitute position are reviewed on an ongoing basis. Depending on current substitute staffing needs and the volume of applications received, applicants can expect a response within approximately 2 to 6 weeks

Applicants should be able to establish a positive classroom climate, possess excellent classroom management skills, and be able to continue the established curriculum in a variety of classrooms. Candidates should possess the skills and confidence to access digital tools and resources should the need arise. The District offers tuition reimbursement and health benefits (in the year following a minimum number of substitute days), professional development opportunities, and a work incentive each time period for substituting a minimum number of days.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree (regionally accredited or foreign equivalent)
  • Hold, or be eligible to hold, an active TSPC license
  • 1 year or more of experience working with PK-12 students in a school-based setting OR proof of current enrollment in an Educator Preparation Program (please upload proof to the documents section of your application)

Substitute Teaching, Preliminary Teaching, Professional Teaching, Teacher Leader, Principal, Professional Administrator, Preliminary CTE, or Professional CTE)

•Candidates who meet the preferred qualifications will be prioritized during the application review process.

Restricted Substitute Teaching License Information:

Applicants who hold a minimum of a bachelor's degree, but have not completed a teacher preparation program, can request sponsorship for the Restricted Substitute Teaching License. The Restricted Substitute Teaching License permits a qualified individual to substitute teach in a prekindergarten through grade 12 Oregon public school district, education service districts, and charter school assignments. You can learn more about the requirements for this license here. While Beaverton School District may sponsor candidates who meet the required qualifications below, priority consideration is generally given to applicants who already hold, or are eligible to hold, an unrestricted TSPC license. Sponsorship requests are reviewed based on current district needs. Beaverton School District reserves the right to discontinue reviewing requests for sponsorship at any time.

•Please note: Sponsorship requests undergo additional review to determine eligibility and current staffing needs. As a result, applicants seeking sponsorship may experience longer processing and response times than applicants who already hold, or are eligible to hold, an unrestricted TSPC license.

Salary

$251 for an 8-hour day (premium rate of $263.55 for an 8-hour day applies for BSD retirees, deployable contracted substitutes, or those with 360 days of substitute experience in BSD in prior years)
