Once a part of Kenrick-Glennon Seminary's campus, the Cardinal Rigali Center in Shrewsbury, MO is today the headquarters and curia (governing body) for the Archdiocese of St. Louis. Job Summary The Substitute Teacher is responsible for providing classroom instruction and supervision in the absence of the regular classroom teacher. The substitute teacher supports the mission of Catholic education by maintaining a positive, safe, respectful, and faith-filled learning environment while following lesson plans and school policies. Job Responsibilities Implement lesson plans and classroom activities provided by the regular teacher. Maintain a safe, orderly, and respectful classroom environment conducive to learning. Supervise students throughout the school day, including during classroom instruction, transitions, lunch, recess, and dismissal as assigned. Encourage positive student behavior and uphold school policies and procedures. Support the spiritual and academic development of students consistent with Catholic values and teachings. Communicate effectively with school administration, faculty, and staff regarding classroom activities or concerns. Maintain confidentiality regarding students, staff, and school matters. Complete attendance records and leave appropriate notes for the regular classroom teacher. Adapt to different grade levels, classroom settings, and instructional needs as assigned. Follow all diocesan, parish, and Safe Environment policies and procedures. Job Requirements High school diploma required; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred Valid substitute teaching certification or eligibility as required by state or diocesan guidelines Practicing Catholic preferred Experience working with children in educational or childcare settings preferred Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills Ability to follow lesson plans and adapt to varying classroom environments Positive attitude, flexibility, and professionalism Completion of required background screening and Safe Environment training The Archdiocese of St. Louis is an Equal Opportunity Employer and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any kind.
