Substitute Teachers play a vital role in maintaining continuity of instruction and a positive learning environment when regular classroom teachers are absent. This position is ideal for individuals who are passionate about education, enjoy working with students, and can adapt quickly to different classroom settings.
Key ResponsibilitiesImplement lesson plans provided by the classroom teacher across various grade levels and subject areasMaintain a safe, respectful, and productive classroom environmentManage student behavior in accordance with district policies and proceduresTake attendance and maintain accurate records of student participationCommunicate effectively with school staff and administrationProvide feedback to the regular teacher regarding student progress and any notable issuesFollow all district policies, procedures, and emergency protocolsValid Teaching Certification or eligibility to obtain one (in accordance with state regulations)Prior experience working with children or in an educational setting preferredStrong classroom management and communication skillsAbility to adapt quickly to new environments and follow instructional plansReliable, punctual, and professional demeanorCompensation & BenefitsCompetitive daily rate: $150.00 per dayFlexible scheduling choose assignments based on availabilityOpportunities for long-term substitute placementsProfessional development opportunities (if applicable)Working ConditionsAssignments may vary across elementary, middle, and high school levelsWork schedule typically follows the school day calendarAbility to stand, walk, and engage actively with students throughout the dayEqual Opportunity EmployerJohnston Public Schools is committed to creating a diverse and inclusive environment and is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
