Job Description
Cross Schools is seeking caring, dependable, and flexible Substitute Teachers to join our team. Substitute teachers play an important role in maintaining a positive and productive learning environment when our regular classroom teachers are absent. This position offers the opportunity to serve students from Early Education through 12th grade while supporting our mission of developing the heart and mind of each student for the glory of God. Position Summary The Substitute Teacher is responsible for providing classroom supervision and instruction in the absence of the regular teacher. The substitute follows lesson plans, maintains classroom routines, manages student behavior, and fosters a safe, engaging, and Christ-centered learning environment. Essential Responsibilities Follow lesson plans and instructional materials provided by the classroom teacher. Create a positive, respectful, and productive classroom environment. Supervise students throughout the school day, including transitions and assigned duties. Maintain appropriate classroom management and student discipline consistent with school expectations. Communicate effectively with school administrators and staff. Ensure the safety and well-being of all students. Complete attendance and other required classroom documentation. Leave detailed notes regarding classroom activities and student progress for the returning teacher. Demonstrate flexibility by serving in various grade levels or subject areas as needed. Qualifications High school diploma required; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred. Previous experience working with children or in an educational setting is preferred. Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to adapt quickly to changing classroom environments. Demonstrated professionalism, reliability, and sound judgment.
