Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and adaptable Substitute Teacher to join our educational team within Chester County Schools. The successful candidate will serve as a temporary classroom instructor, providing continuity of instruction and maintaining a positive learning environment in the absence of regular teachers. This role offers an opportunity to impact students' educational experiences across various grade levels and subjects, ensuring that learning objectives are met while adhering to school policies and curriculum standards. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, classroom management abilities, and a passion for fostering student growth and development. Responsibilities Deliver lesson plans provided by the regular classroom teacher or develop instructional activities aligned with curriculum standards when necessary. Manage classroom behavior effectively to create a safe, respectful, and engaging learning environment. Implement instructional strategies tailored to diverse student needs, including early childhood education, special education, and literacy or math instruction. Maintain student engagement and monitor progress throughout lessons, providing support as needed. Uphold school policies, mandated reporting laws, and confidentiality standards at all times. Communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents to support student success and well-being. Assist with classroom routines, transitions, and activities to ensure smooth daily operations. Support students with special needs or individualized education plans (IEPs), including experience working with children with autism or in Montessori settings. Follow established procedures for emergency situations and behavior management protocols. Participate in training sessions related to curriculum development, classroom management techniques, and school policies. Qualifications Prior experience working with children in educational or childcare settings is highly desirable. Knowledge of curriculum development, lesson planning, and instructional best practices across early childhood education, literacy, math, and special education. Familiarity with mandated reporting laws and school policy compliance. Strong classroom management skills with the ability to adapt to various age groups and learning styles. Experience working with individuals with autism or in private school environments is a plus. Excellent communication skills to effectively engage students and collaborate with staff. Demonstrated ability to foster inclusive learning environments that support diverse learners. Relevant certifications or coursework in childhood development or early childhood education preferred. Ability to adapt quickly to different classrooms and grade levels while maintaining professionalism.
