PURPOSE/FUNCTION
To help students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their academic development in the absence of the regular teacher.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Reports to the building principal or school secretary upon arrival. 2. Adheres to the established routines and procedures of the school and classroom to which assigned. 3. Teaches lesson plan as outlined by the absent teacher. 4. Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning. 5. Takes necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities. 6. Responsible for knowing the schools crisis plan to ensure student safety in emergency situations. 7. Attends training workshops as required by the Principal. 8. Performs other duties consistent with the position as assigned by the Principal.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelors Degree. Previous experience working with children/youth in an academic setting preferred. Familiarity with CCS preferred. Commitment to the mission of CCS and agreement with the CCS Statement of Faith. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to exercise discretion and utmost professionalism in confidential and sensitive student matters.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This is a role that requires equal amounts of standing/walking and sitting at a desk for the majority of the school day.
