Our substitute teachers play an important role in maintaining a positive and engaging learning environment when a classroom teacher is absent. Responsibilities Classroom Continuity:

Follow the lesson plans, schedules, classroom routines, and guidance provided by the classroom teacher to ensure a consistent and supportive learning experience for students.

Student Engagement:

Create a warm, welcoming, and engaging classroom environment. Encourage students to participate in hands-on activities, projects, discussions, collaborative learning experiences, and behavioral management.

Classroom Management:

Maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment while reinforcing established classroom expectations and school-wide practices.

Flexibility & Adaptability:

Be prepared to work with different grade levels and adapt to varying classroom environments, schedules, student needs, and learning activities.

Reggio Emilia & Project-Based Learning:

Support First Presbyterian School's approach to learning by encouraging curiosity, creativity, exploration, problem-solving, collaboration, and the "hundred languages" through which children communicate and learn.

Student Support:

Provide appropriate academic, social, and emotional support to students throughout the school day while encouraging independence and positive decision-making.

Collaboration:

Communicate effectively with classroom teachers, administration, and other staff regarding classroom activities, student needs, and any significant concerns that arise during the day.

Supervision & Safety:

Provide attentive supervision of students during classroom activities, transitions, recess, lunch, specials, and other assigned duties. Follow all school safety and emergency procedures.
