May substitute for one day or for a longer term absence; may follow lesson plans developed by the regular teacher, or work with teacher who will be out to create new lesson plans and assignments.

Substitute for absent teacher or other staff; provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the academic subject areas assigned to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth; enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.Pay rate:
$100 per day- no degree $110 per day
- holds a bachelor's degree, non-teacher certified $120 per day
- teacher certified $25 per day incentive
- applied when substitute works 10 or more full days in a calendar month
