Primary Purpose:

Provide regular classroom instruction in the absence of teachers.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

Minimum of high school diploma or GED Texas Teacher Certification preferred

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Knowledge of acceptable classroom behavior standards Knowledge of district classroom policies/procedures Knowledge of designated campus classroom policies Knowledge of acceptable teaching practices Skill in applying acceptable classroom management Skill in coping with a variety of students in varied situations Skill in coping with stressful situations Skill in applying/using acceptable teaching practices Ability to create and maintain a climate of respect and fairness for all students

Experience:

No prior experience necessary

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Serve as substitute teacher/paraprofessional at assigned campus. 2. Teach assigned classes following regular teacher lesson plans. 3. Maintain environment conducive to learning. 4. Perform instructional duties as assigned when not serving in a substitute teacher capacity.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Limited supervision of classroom assistants and/or volunteers.
