Immediately Job Description Substitute Teacher Position Summary The Substitute Teacher provides instructional support and classroom supervision in the absence of the regular classroom teacher. Substitute teachers maintain a safe, positive, and productive learning environment while implementing lesson plans and ensuring students remain engaged in learning activities. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Follow lesson plans and instructional materials provided by the regular teacher. Maintain appropriate classroom management and student discipline in accordance with district policies and procedures. Create a safe, respectful, and orderly learning environment. Take attendance and maintain accurate records as required. Supervise students throughout the school day, including transitions, lunch, and other assigned duties. Provide assistance to students with assignments and answer questions as appropriate. Communicate any significant issues, concerns, or incidents to campus administration. Protect the confidentiality of student information and records. Demonstrate professionalism and serve as a positive role model for students. Perform other duties as assigned by the principal or designee. Qualifications High school diploma or GED required; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred. Ability to work effectively with students, staff, and administrators. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to maintain classroom order and manage student behavior. Must meet all state and district requirements for substitute teachers, including background checks and fingerprinting. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to lift and carry classroom materials and supplies. Ability to perform duties in a variety of classroom and school settings. Work Schedule Assignments are on an as-needed basis and may vary by campus, grade level, and subject area. Compensation Compensation is based on the district's approved substitute pay schedule.
