QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum of an Associate's degree from an accredited college or university required; Bachelor's degree preferred. Must hold a valid Washington State Teaching Certificate or possess the ability and willingness to obtain a Washington State Emergency Substitute Certificate. Demonstrated ability to supervise students, maintain a safe and positive learning environment, and implement lesson plans provided by the regular classroom teacher. Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, parents, and administrators. Ability to adapt to various grade levels, subject areas, and classroom environments. Strong organizational skills, flexibility, sound judgment, and professionalism befitting an educator. Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding students, staff, and district information in accordance with state and federal laws. Previous experience working with children in an educational or youth-serving setting is preferred. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
REPORTS TO
Building Principal and District Superintendent.
JOB GOAL
To provide instructional continuity during the absence of the regular classroom teacher by implementing lesson plans, maintaining a safe, respectful, and productive learning environment, and supporting student learning in accordance with district policies, procedures, and Washington State educational standards.
SUPERVISES
Students and paraeducators as assigned.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Implement lesson plans and instructional activities provided by the regular classroom teacher. Maintains a safe, orderly, and positive classroom environment that promotes student learning and appropriate behavior. Follows established classroom routines, school procedures, and district policies. Supervises students in classrooms, hallways, cafeterias, playgrounds, assemblies, and other assigned areas. Takes accurate student attendance and follows school procedures for reporting attendance and student concerns. Maintains appropriate classroom discipline in accordance with district policies, building expectations, and the Student Rights and Responsibilities Handbook. Encourages respectful interactions and promotes an inclusive learning environment for all students. Provides instructional assistance and clarification to students as appropriate while following the lesson plans provided. Communicate professionally with school staff regarding student progress, classroom activities, and any concerns that arise during the assignment. Leaves written notes for the regular classroom teacher regarding completed lessons, student behavior, attendance, and other pertinent information. Maintains confidentiality of student, staff, and district information in accordance with applicable laws and district policies. Demonstrates flexibility by adapting to different grade levels, instructional settings, and subject areas as assigned. Uses classroom technology, instructional materials, and district resources appropriately and responsibly. Reports accidents, injuries, discipline concerns, safety hazards, or emergencies promptly to school administration. Maintains the cleanliness, organization, and security of the assigned classroom and instructional materials. Dresses and conducts oneself in a professional manner that reflects positively on the district. Demonstrates responsibility, dependability, and punctuality in reporting for assignments. Works collaboratively and respectfully with administrators, teachers, paraeducators, office staff, and other district employees. Respects the diverse cultures, backgrounds, languages, and experiences of students, families, and staff. Complies with all district policies, state and federal laws, and applicable regulations, including those related to student safety, confidentiality, and mandatory reporting. Performs other duties consistent with the position as assigned by the building administrator or superintendent.
LIMITS OF AUTHORITY
Has authority over students and paraeducators as assigned during the duration of the substitute assignment.
SCHEDULE
Work schedule and hours are determined by the assigned substitute placement and the operational needs of the district.
SALARY:
Salary shall be paid in accordance with the substitute compensation schedule adopted by the Granger School District Board of Directors and applicable Washington State law.

Eligible substitute employees may receive benefits in accordance with applicable Washington State law, district policies, and the eligibility requirements established by the Granger School District Board of Directors.
