The Bear Creek School is currently seeking to add a Strength and Conditioning Instructor Long Term Substitute to our team! As a member of The Bear Creek School, you belong to a vibrant preschool - grade 12 community fully committed to the mission of our school. The Substitute Strength and Conditioning Instructor designs and implements a comprehensive, year-round training program to support all Bear Creek student-athletes. This role partners with Varsity Head Coaches to deliver sport-specific programming and leads athletes in safe, effective training to enhance performance, reduce injury risk, and track progress. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Support and promote the mission and core values of The Bear Creek School Build relationships with students, families, staff, and faculty to better promote good health in the Bear Creek Community Create a safe, fun, and effective environment in which athletes train Teach a comprehensive fitness and conditioning program including (but not limited to) strength training, agility, athlete performance, stretching, mindset coaching, and nutrition counseling Help to create and deliver measurable objectives as it relates to a functional strength and conditioning program for all student-athletes and programs Teach and ensure that student-athletes and all users of the Fitness Center are using proper weightlifting and spotting techniques Establish safety procedures for use in the Fitness Center and supervise and monitor the behavior and activities of the athletes and students to assure compliance with all such procedures Develop a schedule of use for the Fitness Center to permit all Bear Creek Upper School students to attain the goals of the program that prioritizes the following: During their season, help Coaches, student-athletes, and teams achieve maximum performance When out of season, assist individual student-athletes using customized performance plans based on their identified goals and objectives Assure that all equipment used in this program is properly stored, maintained, cleaned, and inspected to promote and maintain a safe and productive workout environment Work directly and collaborate with the Athletics Trainer and coaches as it relates to injury rehabilitation and return to play of athletes Solicit feedback from student-athletes and coaches on an annual basis Perform other duties as assigned by the Athletics Director Additional Responsibilities Teach two Health classes to upper school (high school) students on a daily schedule Teach two Strength and Conditioning classes to upper school (high school) students on a daily schedule Provide supervision in the Fitness Center for two hours after the school day concludes
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree required Some coaching experience preferred National Strength and Conditioning Association certification or equivalent Hold CPR/AED/First Aid certification (with epinephrine autoinjector supplement) obtain certification within 90 days of employment start date Currently authorized to work in the United States for any employer (sponsorship is not available for this position) Critical Performance Competencies Positively support the school's policies and practices and work collaboratively in a professional organization Truthful, positive, and purposeful when communicating with others Able to use strong written and oral communication skills to transfer thoughts and express ideas Flexible and adaptable in dealing with new, different, or changing requirements Maintain confidentiality and security of information Hold self and others accountable to accomplish results Effective in handling multiple concurrent tasks Adhere to biblical standards in all areas of conduct Physical Requirements Requires standing for long periods of time Requires lifting and moving of items upwards of 50 pounds Able to make visual and auditory evaluation of athlete's performance #LI-JD1
