A Teacher Assistant assists classroom teachers by providing extra individual attention and instruction to students. Helps teachers with recordkeeping, preparation for lessons and activities and supervising students. May work with special education students, or work in a school library or computer lab; may be called teacher aide or paraprofessional.

Job Description
This position includes a $2,000 new hire bonus, which is paid after the successful completion of the first 30 days of employment. In addition to the new hire bonus, this position also offers a $2,000 retention bonus. New hires will receive the first $1,000 installment in December upon completing the first semester, with the remaining $1,000 paid in June after finishing the school year. The bonus will be prorated for part-time employees.
Job Summary:
Assists in the care, instruction, and support of elementary students (PreK through grade 5, or through grade 8 at applicable campuses) with physical, social-emotional, behavioral, self-help, and/or developmental needs. Positions may be assigned to Intensive Resource (IR) rooms, Extended Resource (ER) rooms, Preschool (PK) classrooms, or integrated general education settings, based on district and building needs.New Hire Hourly Rate :

Education Support Staff Association (ESSA) Job Qualifications/Requirements (please review job description for qualifications and duties of the position): The following are required: Must meet at least one of the following: High school diploma/equivalent and ability to pass the ParaProfessional Assessment or WorkKeys within 4 months; or Associate's degree or higher; or Completion of 48 semester hours of higher education. Demonstrated ability to lift and assist students safely. Understanding of developmental disabilities and empathy for students with special needs. Tutoring skills commensurate with the level of assigned students. Successful completion of de-escalation/crisis intervention training, including physical restraint, as required. If the posted vacancy lists a requirement for signing skills, the applicant must at a minimum have completed ASL I and ASL II.
