Empower Community School Position Overview The Assistant Teacher at Empower Schools of Alabama plays a critical role in supporting high-quality instruction and ensuring that all scholars receive the academic, social, and emotional support necessary to succeed. The Assistant Teacher works closely with the Lead Teacher to implement engaging lessons, support small-group instruction, reinforce classroom expectations, and contribute to a positive, structured learning environment. Assistant Teachers must believe that all students can learn and achieve at high levels and be committed to supporting the whole child through strong relationships, high expectations, and consistent support. Key Responsibilities Instructional Support Assist in the delivery of engaging, standards-aligned lessons under the direction of the Lead Teacher Support small group instruction and individualized learning activities Reinforce key concepts during independent practice and intervention blocks (e.g., Power Hour) Provide targeted academic support to students based on data and teacher guidance Assist in preparing instructional materials and classroom resources Student Development & Support Support the implementation of strong classroom management systems and routines Build positive relationships with students that foster a safe, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment Support students' social-emotional development through encouragement, redirection, and restorative practices Monitor student behavior and assist with transitions, arrival, dismissal, and other school routines Support implementation of PBIS and school-wide expectations Student Support & Classroom Culture Support the implementation of strong classroom management systems and routines Build positive relationships with students that foster a safe, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment Support students' social-emotional development through encouragement, redirection, and restorative practices Monitor student behavior and assist with transitions, arrival, dismissal, and other school routines Support implementation of PBIS and school-wide expectations Data & Progress Monitoring Assist with tracking student progress and collecting data for instructional decisions Support administration of assessments (e.g., DIBELS, iReady, MAP, etc.) Work with the Lead Teacher to identify students in need of additional support Relationships & Collaboration Work collaboratively with Lead Teachers, Special Education staff, and interventionists Communicate effectively with staff regarding student needs and progress Build strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues Engage in all House System activities and events Participate in school events, family engagement opportunities, and school-wide initiatives Professional Responsibilities Attend and actively participate in professional development, staff meetings, and coaching sessions Demonstrate a growth mindset and willingness to learn and improve instructional practices Maintain professionalism, punctuality, and strong work ethic Follow all school policies, procedures, and expectations Qualifications High school diploma and ability to pass Work Keys assessment required; Associate's degree preferred Experience working with children in an educational setting preferred Strong belief that all students can learn and succeed Ability to support both academic and social-emotional development of students Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills Ability to take initiative and work under the direction of a Lead Teacher CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain) Core Competencies Ability to create and teach engaging lessons daily that drive student achievement Strong relationship-building skills with students, staff, and families Commitment to equity and an unwavering belief in student potential Ability to support and respond to students' social and emotional needs Growth mindset and willingness to receive and implement feedback Strong communication and collaboration skills High level of professionalism, accountability, and integrity Work Environment & Expectations Full-time position following the school calendar May require extended hours for planning, events, and professional development Maintain an active presence in the classroom, including the ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the classroom while students are present to monitor, support, and engage learners Ability to supervise students in various settings, including classrooms, hallways, cafeteria, and outdoor areas Commitment to the mission and vision of Empower Community School Compensation & Benefits Competitive salary based on experience and qualifications Comprehensive benefits package (health, retirement, etc.) Professional development and leadership growth opportunities

In the first assessment, There are no right or wrong answers The assessment takes about 5 minutes to complete You should take on a laptop or desktop Make sure that you are in Google Chrome with a stable internet connection Once you complete the first assessment, you will immediately receive a link to the 2nd assessment. Unlike the prior assessment, this is a timed test.
