Job Description

South Highland Child Development Center is looking for a dedicated Assistant Teacher to join our faculty of over 30 educators. In this role, you will support the daily operations of the classroom, ensuring a safe and developmentally appropriate environment for our students. We operate under Alabama DHR Performance Standards. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Classroom Support:
Assist with daily operations and oversee the classroom in the absence of the Lead Teacher.
Curriculum Execution:
Plan and implement appropriate lessons using our approved curriculum and classroom routines.
Compliance:
Maintain familiarity with DHR Performance Standards.
Observation & Assessment:
Conduct ongoing child observations and assist the Lead Teacher in preparing assessment data and parent-teacher conferences.
Adaptability:
Modify teaching methods and materials to meet the unique needs of individual children.
Professionalism:
Attend staff meetings, workshops, and in-service training to stay current on ECE best practices.
Environment:
Assist in cleaning, disinfecting, and organizing classroom materials to maintain a safe learning space.
Qualifications Preferred:
Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development + 2 years of experience.
Accepted:
Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential + 3 years of experience. Ability to work collaboratively with a large staff, parents, and administration.
