POSITION DESCRIPTION
POSITION TITLE:
Paraprofessional
FLSA:
Non-Exempt
REPORTS TO
Principal and Classroom Teacher
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
180 Day employment with benefits as specified in employee contract.
BEGINNING
QUALIFICATIONS:
Associates degree, 60 college credit hours, or passing score on ParaPro Praxis exam
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Provide individual or small group instruction. Assist in implementing behavior management activities. Perform clerical duties which may include collection and recording of data, preparing classroom materials, and entering data into a computer program. Attend conferences, as deemed appropriate/necessary. Attend appropriate training sessions. If applicable, annually obtain specified number of professional development hours. Accompany student to general education classroom, cafeteria, playground, restroom, and or other locations on the school campus. Participate in community based instruction activities. Conduct student programing assessments and/or screenings, per instrument administration guidelines/evaluator qualifications. Other duties as assigned.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS
Maintain emotional control under stress. Must have the ability to lift at least 40 pounds occasionally. Ability to endure prolonged standing, walking, sitting, kneeling, occasional reaching above the head or the shoulders, bending, squatting.
