QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants must have high school diploma or equivalent AND minimum of 3-6 months experience in childcare, education or working with children in related activities. If applicant does not have an Associates degree, then applicant must be able to pass a Highly Qualified paraprofessional test.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Essential functions may include the following tasks, knowledge, skills and other characteristics. This list is illustrative only, and is not a complete listing of all functions and tasks performed by this position. Observes and monitors control of students' behavior in the classroom, playground, lunchroom, school buses and other areas. Supervises large groups of students. Establishes, maintains and promotes a classroom atmosphere which ensures the emotional and physical safety and well-being of students and emphasizes mutual respect, self-worth, self-discipline, cooperation, consideration and responsibility. Assesses student needs and develops, implements and evaluates daily lesson plans for students to include scheduled activities and materials. Modifies instruction of program to meet the needs of each child. Plans, organizes and displays classroom materials, space and time appropriate to curricular activities.
