POSITION TITLE
Self-Contained Special Education Paraprofessional - Level C
FLSA:

REPORTS TO
Special Education Director
JOB SUMMARY
A self-contained special education paraprofessional, under general supervision, provides assistance to a self-contained special education teacher, performing a variety of tasks relating to the physical and instructional needs of students in a classroom setting; assists in the implementation of instructional programs, including self-help and behavior management as well as instruction. The special education paraprofessional performs related duties as required or assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
Must have an high school diploma or equivalent Must possess Paraprofessional Certificate•Must be able to obtain/must have current AZ IVP Fingerprint Card. Preferred Minimum of one year of experience and/or training in a self-contained setting supporting individuals with a variety of disabilities. Works collaboratively as part of a team and displays ability to be flexible and adapt to changes in the work environment. Demonstrates strong work ethic to achieve program goals. Possesses the ability to utilize technology to access and use a variety of software programs and/of applications.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Meets needs of all students with disabilities on their campus under the direction of school administration and special education teams. Assists in teaching and modeling workplace skills and positive behaviors. Assists in data collection related to IEP goals. Leads individual and small group activities with students under teacher direction. Escorts students to and from classes, activities, and transportation buses as needed. Prepares instructional materials and copies. Prepares and distributes learning materials according to teacher direction. Attend professional development opportunities.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS
Assist in the preparation of federal, state and local reports on special education. Maintains culturally responsive practices with scholars, parents, and professionals. Performs other duties as assigned or required. May be required to lift and carry heavy, bulky supplies and materials weighing up to 20 pounds. May be required to lift scholars and/or assist scholars with daily activities.
