QUALIFICATIONS

An Associate's Degree or 60 college credits or State/Local ParaPro Assessment test required Previous experience working with youth preferred Ability to obtain CPR/First Aid Certification Ability to obtain a valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card Under the supervision of the classroom teacher and building Administrator, provide direct support to students with disabilities to assist with a wide range of IEP-related services so they may reach their highest potential within the academic setting. Assist student in classroom activities to maximize inclusion, learning, achievement of IEP objectives, etc. Accompany and assist student throughout the school day as necessitated by the IEP and monitor behaviors for behavior plans. Work one-on-one and in small groups with student on specific needs. Assist with classroom behavioral management to minimize disruptions, ensure a safe and orderly classroom, and ensure students are on task. Assist teacher in modifying student assignments as needed. May assist and train student in activities of daily living as needed, including diapering/toileting, feeding, hygiene, dressing, and mobility. Be knowledgeable of the basic course content for student; and, the educational goals and objectives for each assigned student. May perform medical tasks as assigned under the direction or instruction of licensed medical providers (nurses) including, but not limited to catheterizations, care of trachea tubes, gastric tube feeding, etc. Follow all applicable safety rules, procedures, and regulations governing the proper manner of assistance for all students.
