SUMMARY:
The Preschool Instructional Aide will assist the teacher in maintaining appropriate classroom activities and environment in order that students may learn effectively.

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following: Works with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning ofmaterial or skills initially introduced by the teacher. Assists the teacher in devising special strategies for reinforcing material or skills based on a sympathetic understanding of individual students, their needs, interests and abilities. Operates and cares for equipment used in the classroom for instructional purposes. Distributes and collects workbooks, papers and other materials for instruction. Guides independent study, enrichment work and remedial work set up and assigned by the teacher. Assists with the supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, play periods, lunch periods and field trips. Maintains the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of fully licensed teachers. Participates in in-service training programs as assigned. Alerts the regular teacher to any problem or special information about an individual student. Serves as the chief source of information and help to any substitute teacher assigned inthe absence of the regular teacher. Assists with lunch, snack and cleanup routines. Performs clerical tasks. Performs other related duties as required by supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or GED required. A transcript showing a minimum of sixty (60) completed college credits OR a passing ParaPro Assessment score dated within the past 10 years must be submitted with the application. Previous experience working with students preferred. Ability to work harmoniously with staff and students.
Knowledge of:
District and Department policies and procedures; Pertinent local, state and federal laws, ordinances, codes, and rules. Skill in: Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.

Principal
LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Must obtain IVP fingerprint clearance within 10 days of start date. Must obtain TB test within 10 days of start date.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Work year, salary and benefits as established by the Board.
EVALUATION
Performance of this job shall be evaluated by the building principal in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of classified personnel.
