Typical hours are 7:45- 4:00, Monday - Friday throughout the school year. Hours may vary depending on school needs and after-school events. Summer hours may also be available.

Head of Early Education Purpose:
To provide assistance for Early Education classroom teachers and Outdoor Curriculum teacher by creating a safe classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate for the intellectual, emotional, physical and social growth of the students. To provide supervision of students throughout the school day in order to ensure their safety and security.
Duties:
Provides student supervision during classroom Teacher or Instructional Assistant breaks in order to ensure that students are in ratio. Prepare classroom materials as directed by the classroom teachers. At the teacher's direction, assist in the implementation of appropriate instructional learning strategies, activities, materials and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned. Interact, initiate and encourage the developmental growth of the children in activities throughout the day through age-appropriate interaction and guidance. Assist the teachers in managing student behavior in accordance with the School's character development and guidance policies and procedures. Ensure a 1-12 ratio is maintained at all times, both inside and outside. Assist in the supervision of students during recess and lunch periods, ensuring that students are within sight at all times. During outdoor classroom time, provide supervision, observations, guidance and scaffolding. Maintain a professional relationship with all colleagues, students, parents and members of the school community. Refer all communication with parents regarding their child, or the operation of the classroom, to the teacher, unless otherwise directed. Uphold all confidentiality policies with regards to parents, children and staff. Take necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities. Help maintain a clean, healthy, safe, and inviting environment (Report all illness/accidents promptly, ensure that no chemicals or hot liquids are within a child's reach, clear any obstructions to exits, clean tables and floor as needed, assist the teacher in keeping the classroom in a clean, orderly and aesthetic manner, maintain safe equipment, report any broken equipment to the Lead Teacher or Head of EEP immediately.) Prepare materials and educational experiences as directed by, and in the absence of, the classroom teacher when they are absent. Collaborate and share observations and ideas with colleagues within the grade level and division. Attend division and school-wide meetings and School functions (i.e. Back to School Night, Open House, etc.) as requested by the Head of Early Education. Support the School and its leadership. Other duties as assigned by the Head of Early Education and Head of School.
Minimum Requirements:
12 Early Childhood Education (ECE) units completed prior to start date that include Child, Family & Community, Principles of Early Education and Child Human Growth & Development (Early Years). Completed courses in Guidance & Discipline and Programs & Curriculum preferred but not required. Full understanding of developmental levels of children and corresponding curriculum. Practical understanding of Community Care Licensing Title 22. Proven knowledge of appropriate teaching practices and discipline procedures. Able to stand and sit on the floor for extended periods of time. Ability to squat, bend, kneel, reach, push, pull and lift and carry up to 50 lbs. for short periods of time. Outstanding interpersonal skills with a strong customer service focus (internal and external) Strong written and oral communication skills with an ability to effectively communicate with all stakeholders of the school Highly ethical team player High energy, self-starter with ability to successfully prioritize and multi-task in an atmosphere in which time sensitive deadlines are the norm, as are interruption Good computer skills with a proficiency in MS office Must be able to sit, stand, walk for extended periods of time.
