In this contract position, you'll play a vital part in helping students succeed by providing essential assistance in both educational and communication settings. Leverage your expertise in sign language interpretation and paraprofessional skills to foster a positive, inclusive learning experience for students who are Deaf or hard of hearing as well as those needing additional support.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
Demonstrated proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and interpreting for students with a variety of communication needs Experience working as a paraprofessional or in a similar educational support role in a school environment Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, therapists, and other school staff Compassion, patience, and adaptability in working with students ranging in age and ability level Basic understanding of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and how to implement student accommodations preferred
Key Responsibilities:
Facilitate communication between students, staff, and peers using sign language, ensuring equal access to classroom instruction and activities Assist teachers with classroom management, instructional tasks, and supporting the implementation of lesson plans Provide individualized or small-group support for students with diverse learning needs Encourage student independence, engagement, and confidence Maintain confidentiality regarding student information and support compliance with school policies This position offers the unique chance to impact student lives on a daily basis while enjoying the flexibility of a contract role.
