None or a limited number of units.
RANGE:
12 Completion of 15 semester units of a varied academic program. 15 Completion of 30 semester units of a varied academic program, 15 of which must be education courses or related subjects. 18 An AA Degree (60 semester units or more, 30 of which must be education courses or related subjects) or 60 units of education courses.
JOB SUMMARY
Under general supervision, to assist teachers with instructional duties, and related work as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
a.
Required:
1 High school graduation or its equivalent. 2. Must pass basic high school competency test. 3. Ability to speak and write effectively; understand and follow oral and written instructions; work effectively with young people; work independently on own initiative; establish and maintain cooperative relationships; ability to work calmly and accurately under pressure and with frequent interruptions. b.
Desirable:
1. Experience in youth activities. 2. Knowledge and understanding of developmental stages of students. 3. Ability to communicate in Spanish.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 1.
Tutor students, individually or in groups, in prescribed subject matter under direction of certificated staff. 2. Administer and correct teacher-prepared tests. 3. Monitor on-campus student activities as assigned under the guidance and direction of an administrative staff member. 4. Support teacher(s) in clerical duties, such as photocopying and recordkeeping as assigned. 5. May set up and use audiovisual equipment and computers to assist students. 6. Perform other duties as required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS 1.
Ability to sit for extended periods of time. 2. Ability to stand and circulate for extended periods of time. 3. May require the ability to ascend or descend steps. 4. Ability to see and read, with or without vision aids. 5. Ability to hear and understand speech at normal levels. 6. Ability to communicate so others will clearly understand normal conversation. 7. Ability to bend and twist, kneel and stoop. 8. Ability to lift/carry/push/pull up to 20 pounds on a regular basis and push/pull up to 50 pounds occasionally. 9. Ability to reach in all directions. 10. Physical dexterity in limbs and digits to operate audiovisual equipment and computers.
