This position involves providing specialized supervision, behavioral support, and assistance with daily living skills in a structured, routine‑based environment. The participant is a teen with developmental disabilities, including Down syndrome and Autism. She is limitedly verbal and benefits from a steady, patient, and proactive approach. During transitions or periods of stress, she may become physically dysregulated, so the ideal caregiver is confident with behavioral support and de‑escalation strategies. This is a professional caregiving role—not a typical babysitting position—and requires someone who is genuinely experienced supporting teens with higher‑level supervision and behavioral needs. Preferred Experience Experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities Autism support Down syndrome support Behavioral support and de‑escalation Background in special education, respite care, ABA, or related caregiving fields (If your primary background is traditional ABA, please note that our family utilizes a child-led, restorative philosophy.) Genuine experience and confidence supporting teens with developmental disabilities (Down syndrome and Autism). A background in child-led play, neurodiversity-affirming care, somatic practices, adaptive recreation, or special education. Requirements Calm, patient, and attentive demeanor Non‑smoker CPR/First Aid preferred Reliable transportation required Ability to provide close supervision and remain proactive-not on phone Comfortable assisting with all ADLs Must be able to work in a fragrance‑free and shoe‑free home Responsibilities Provide attentive supervision and engagement Support with activities of daily living (ADLs) Assist with light meal preparation Perform light housekeeping related to caregiving Maintain a structured, safe, and supportive environment Use calm, consistent strategies to support regulation during transitions
Pay:
$28.00 - $32.00 per hour
