Job Description

Explorer Associate Instructor Location:
Carlsbad, CA Status:
Part Time Pay Range:
$18-$21
Job Summary:
Seeking creative, energetic, and fun individuals to fill associate instructor positions for our Beacons Explorer vocational workshops. The associate instructor will support the trainees in order to learn and complete the workshop's daily activities and outings. The associate instructor will also use their creativity to develop tools to help optimize the learning of individuals with mild/moderate learning disabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
The Associate Instructor will support and assist the lead instructor for the Explorer workshop(s) Help with pre- and post assessments, and complete progress reporting for the workshop(s) Support trainees with on-site instruction Collaborate with the Lead Instructor to update and revise the curriculum, and develop teaching tools to help optimize the learning of individuals with mild/moderate learning disabilities.
Skills and Qualifications:
Success working with individuals with mild/moderate intellectual and developmental disabilities Experience working with assistive technology to support those with different learning and communication styles Proficient with education-related programs and tools (such as Google Suite, Kahoot, Zoom, and/or Canva) Innovative "outside the box" thinking to help create tools or materials to help trainees learn and retain subject matter taught Successful completion of LiveScan and a background check Must possess a valid California driver's license and maintain a clean driving record. This role requires daily driving of participants to and from community-based activities and local employer sites. Bachelor's degree preferred, but not required for associate instructor position Teaching credential not required, although teaching skills essential Excellent interpersonal skills to work with our trainees, families, community members and agency representatives.
