Essential Elements:
Print We are looking for a support professional who is experienced in working with children who have behavioral and academic support needs for grade levels TK/K through 8th grade. As an additional Special Education Support Specialist, you will work closely with the SPED Program Specialist to ensure that all elements of the IEP are being appropriately implemented in the classroom. Having experience with a Behavior Improvement Plan is a plus. This position would require you to be available to work from the hours of 8:30 AM to 2:45 PM, Monday through Friday. Primary Responsibilities Provide one-on-one and small group academic support in reading, writing, and math. Implement evidence-based interventions designed by the education team. Assist in creating and adapting instructional materials to meet student needs. Support students in following accommodations and modifications outlined in their learning plans. Monitor and document student progress under the direction of certificated staff. Help students build organizational, self-regulation, and social skills. Utilize assistive technology and visual supports to enhance learning access.
Qualifications:
Associate's or bachelor's degree in education or related field preferred. Experience working with students with special needs (school or childcare setting preferred). Familiarity with instructional strategies, accommodations, and modifications for diverse learners. Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, staff, and families. Strong organizational and communication skills. Patience, flexibility, and a student-centered approach. Commitment to Montessori philosophy and inclusive education. There are physical requirements to the job, and Rising Sun should be notified if you have a condition which would prevent you from fulfilling these requirements. These include but are not limited to: bending, kneeling, working at a table, walking/movement with the child and some light lifting. The school year starts on Tuesday, August 12th and ends on May 28th. Our school calendar is available on our website at www.risingsunmontessori.org. It is essential that any applicant is able to work during these days and hours, and also has a strong understanding of children with learning differences and behavioral support needs. We are looking for a caring individual who can easily build trust and rapport with students in the grade levels served.
