Full Job Description Job Overview:
This is a 4-hours per day, 186-days per school year position Under the direction of the assigned supervisor, assist certificated staff in the instruction, supervision, training and physical care of assigned individuals or groups of special needs students Responsibly perform a variety of instructional services and clerical support activities within a well-defined framework of policies, procedures and objectives Use sound judgment and initiative in working with and providing physical care for students with moderate to severe medical and physical disabilities or behavior disorders Ride a school bus or orthopedic transportation vehicle to provide safe and secure transportation for students with physical, medical, educational and emotional disabilities Assist drivers in the loading, unloading and securing of disabled students Other related work as required

Bachelor's Degree:
$22.77 to $29.06 per hour in six steps Associates Degree or 60+ units: $20.17 to $25.74 per hour in six steps
High School Diploma or Equivalent:
$18.31 to $23.37 per hour in six steps
Education and Experience:
Instructional Assistant I:
Equivalent to graduation from high school and any combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates possession of the required knowledge and abilities.
Instructional Assistant II:
Associate of Arts (AA) or Associate of Science (AS) degree, or completion of at least sixty (60) semester units from an accredited college or university.
Instructional Assistant III:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
License, Certificate and Testing Requirements:
Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent is required. Candidates for Instructional Assistant I who do not possess an AA degree, completion of at least sixty (60) semester units of college coursework, or a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university must successfully pass an approved Instructional Assistant Proficiency Test with a score of seventy percent (70%) or higher in the areas of reading, writing, and mathematics. Candidates meeting the educational requirements for Instructional Assistant II or Instructional Assistant III are deemed to have satisfied the proficiency requirement and are not required to complete the Instructional Assistant Proficiency Test. Must be able to provide your own reliable transportation to work sites within Kings County. Transport students from time to time as required, in a county office vehicle.
