Job Description
Job Overview Cooking with Kids Foundation is looking for a Part-Time Teacher's Aide interested in teaching childhood health education to children aged 7-13 years. Be able to work in afternoon cooking classes at Park and Recreation Depts. This part-time job in fall, winter, and spring can be 2 - 8 hrs per wk. Summer camps are 8 weeks and 6 hrs per day. We teach Lafayette, Orinda, Walnut Creek (private school) & Pleasanton (summer only) Responsibilities Be 18 years or older. Have a high school diploma. Have your own transportation. Before class begins, set up the classroom and help students set up their workstations. Set up the washing dishes area. Assist instructor in teaching the Students how to hold and carry a knife safely in the kitchen. How to cut food safely. Help teach appliance safety and care. Work at the stove with students(when they can safely. May direct the theory part of the class session. Help students learn how to do correct dishwashing and drying. Work with the Food. Do and teach healthy food management. Use the Food Pyramid to show how and why to eat healthy Prefer an Aide who has experience working with children in early childhood education settings Have a current TB Certificate, have current Mandated Reporter training certificate, be Live Scanned in all towns we teach in. Certification in first aid, CPR, and pediatric first aid preferred; willingness to obtain if not already certified Have good communication skills Ability to manage classroom behavior through positive reinforcement and classroom management strategies
