Essential Elements:
Print Applicants must hold or be eligible for an Education Specialist Instruction Credential with authorization to teach students with mild/moderate disabilities. Must also have or be working toward CLAD Certification. Duties and Responsibilities Assesses the needs of each student in order to design, develop and deliver an appropriate program of individualized instruction. Develops progressive skills so that students may eventually be able to work independently and follow required directions in a regular classroom. Maintains a specific program for each child in which success is the major objective. Arrange with staff as necessary for the successful integration of students into regular classes for instruction in areas where students will achieve and experience success. Confers frequently with professional staff and parents regarding each students progress and assists the parents in establishing realistic goals for their children with concrete suggestions for implementation. Responsible for developing an understanding among all staff of educationally disabled students and their needs. Plan and coordinates the work of assistants and other paraprofessionals. Maintains accurate records of student performance, academically and behaviorally. Participates with I.E.P. committee in determining admission, placement and evaluation of students for special day classes. Teaches educationally disable pupils in a special day class basic academic, functional and social skills commensurate with the emotional, physical and intellectual needs of the pupil. Must be willing to work with a variety of disabilities, which includes academic, behavioral, neurological, speech and language disabilities and/ or serious emotional problems. The teacher also provided the appropriate physical/psychological enviornment to establish and reinforce acceptable student behavior, attitudes and social skills. Must have experience developing behavior intervention programs.
