Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated Assistant Teacher to join our early elementary team from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with elementary age children, hold a BA in education, and have experience working in elementary school.
Responsibilities:
- Support lead classroom teachers and PE, Music, Science specialist teachers, and Extended Care teachers in implementing lesson plans
- Assist in creating a positive and nurturing learning environment that promotes social, emotional, and cognitive development.
- Help manage classroom behavior and provide individualized attention to students when needed.
- Supervise recess, snack, and lunch times
- Collaborate with the teaching team to ensure a cohesive approach to educating young learners.
- Support the Coordinator of Extended Care programs
- Engage with children to encourage learning through play and exploration.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience working with elementary children
- Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with colleagues, parents, and caregivers
- Dependable and punctual attendance
- BA in Education Ventana's collaborative model necessitates that teachers contribute fully and equally to the development of our Reggio-inspired curriculum and approach.
Observations, instruction, implementation of Inquiry Work, and documentation are essential to the satisfactory performance of this job and are planned collaboratively. All Ventana teachers attend to the social/emotional needs of a diverse school-age population and will collaborate and communicate effectively with colleagues, students, parents, and administrators. Ventana teachers are familiar with Ventana School's curricula and utilize specific adopted curriculum materials and methods. The Director of Elementary Education provides coaching and direction to teachers. Committed to an inquiry-based curriculum, where all academic disciplines are integrated and content connections are made, Ventana teachers consistently provide students with provocations and invitations and then carefully observe student inquiry in order to develop meaningful projects. In accordance with the "Hundred Languages of Children," Visual and Performing Arts, STEM, and physical movement are all used to help students express their ideas and thinking. Ventana teachers are passionate about developing children's creativity, communication, and critical thinking through experiential, inquiry-based learning.
