This position assists with small group instruction, student supervision, classroom support, behavior and engagement strategies, and the implementation of instructional activities designed to help students access the curriculum and make academic progress. The Para-Educator will work collaboratively with teachers, the Education Specialist, Reading Specialist, and other school staff to support students with a variety of academic, behavioral, social-emotional, and learning needs. Duties may include assisting students individually or in small groups, supporting reading intervention activities, helping students complete assignments, reinforcing positive school expectations, preparing instructional materials, and providing support in both classroom and Learning Center environments. This is a 4-hour per day, .571 FTE position at Spring Valley School in the Golden Feather Union Elementary School District, located near Butte College.
Requirements / Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required. Applicants must meet one of the following para-educator requirements: Completion of at least 48 semester units of college coursework; or Associate's degree or higher; or Passing score on a district-approved para-educator proficiency exam. Experience working with students in a school setting, special education setting, reading intervention program, or small group instructional environment is desirable.

The letter of introduction should describe the applicant's interest in the position and any relevant experience working with students, supporting classroom instruction, assisting with reading intervention, working in special education, or providing small group or one-on-one student support. Applicants must also provide documentation showing they meet para-educator requirements, such as college transcripts showing 48 semester units, proof of an associate's degree or higher, or proof of passing a district-approved para-educator proficiency exam, if available. All offers of employment are contingent upon successful completion of district pre-employment requirements, including fingerprint/background clearance, drug test, and TB clearance.
