Job Description
SUMMARY:
The Classroom Aide is responsible for preparing snacks and meals for the children and assisting the teachers with the cleanliness of the children's environment and in maintaining classroom equipment and work areas for the purpose of ensuring availability of items and ensuring a safe and sanitary environment under the direction of the Lead Teachers, Site Supervisor, and the Assistant Site Supervisor. The Classroom Aide follows all classroom licensing requirements and all health and safety practices. Epiphany follows the PITC curriculum for early care and education with a nature-based filter for optimal exploration opportunities.QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the essential job duties and meet the qualifications listed below: 1. Must demonstrate personal qualities of maturity, responsibility, good judgement and understanding of Trauma Informed Care. 2. Enrolled in Early Childhood Development program working towards Associate Teacher Permit. 3. Requires 6 units in Early Childhood Education with an Assistant Teacher Permit or willing to apply for it within 30 days of job offer and at least 3 months experience in a licensed infant care center, preferably in an inclusive or early intervention setting. 4. Must possess or be able to obtain current CPR and First Aid certificates before starting in the classroom. 5. Must complete an online food safety training by the Department of Social Services and take an online food handling training and obtain a CA Food Handler card. 6. Must meet Agency conditions for employment including requirements of annual TB testing, immunizations, and Child Abuse Reporting and Fingerprinting clearances. 7. General computer proficiency (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook) and written English skills.RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Meal preparation for the children in the PCC program. Provide written report of kitchen supplies when needed. 2. Follow weekly menus and complete the shopping list of food supplies as needed. Keep inventory of fresh and frozen food items. 3. Complete weekly health checks in kitchen areas. 4. Perform light housekeeping tasks such as: sweeping under tables, wiping tables and chairs, prepping and serving meals, doing dishes in the kitchen, dusting, cleaning and disinfecting children's toys & bathroom, as assigned to maintain a healthy and safe environment for the children. 5. Cleans equipment, refrigerators, microwaves, and assist with cleaning playrooms for the purpose of ensuring a safe and sanitary environment. 6. Assist teachers with laundry. 7. Communicate effectively with coworkers, faculty, children, and their parents in a mature, respectful manner. 8. Assist teachers in supervising & engaging with children during activities, playtime, and transitions ensuring their safety and well-being while fostering child exploration and discovery as needed. 9. Assist teachers in following established classroom routines. 10. Support children's social and emotional development through positive child guidance approaches and the development of positive relationships in the classroom. 11. Provide positive modeling of early intervention strategies for parents or relatives participating in the program, modeling appropriate and respectful behavior. 12. Maintain client confidentiality in all circumstances as required by professional ethics and legal requirements. 13. Perform effectively and professionally under pressure. 14. Attend all In-Services, case conferences, and meetings as scheduled. (May include occasional weekend training) to enhance skills and knowledge. May also require occasional extended hours for Alumni Reunions and Family Engagement Activities. 15. Arrive to work and meetings following required hours of attendance as outlined in the Epiphany Handbook. 16. Acknowledge safety policies, procedures, and reports potentially unsafe conditions. 17. Support and implement the MSJ-SE mission and the philosophy of the Daughters of Charity. 18. Comply with program guidelines, policies, procedures, CA Licensing policies, program performance standards and other regulatory requirements.Pay:
