A Teacher Assistant assists classroom teachers by providing extra individual attention and instruction to students. Helps teachers with recordkeeping, preparation for lessons and activities and supervising students. May work with special education students, or work in a school library or computer lab; may be called teacher aide or paraprofessional.

Job Description
Requirements / Qualifications This position requires the candidate to have completed at least two years of study at an institution of higher education OR the ability to demonstrate, through a formal local academic assessment, knowledge of and the ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics (or readiness in those subjects, as appropriate). Testing TBD. You will be working with preschool school age special education students and will provide individual services and support for these students per their Individual Education Plan (IEP).
Qualifications:
Candidate must be a high school graduate and have knowledge of principles and practices relating to Special Education, subjects taught in District schools, and principles and techniques of providing instructional assistance in a variety of subject areas. Correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and vocabulary, as well as good oral and written communication skills are essential. Maintaining a current CPR and First Aid certification is required. Comments and Other Information
