Job Description

Bilingual Education Assistant Child Parent Institute Overview Description Bilingual Education Assistants support education staff in the instruction, supervision, and training of individuals or groups of students aged 12-22 from school districts serving the entire North Bay region. Instructional services are performed within a trauma-informed framework of policies and procedures in a variety of educational environments. This position reports directly to the Principal and receives daily direction from the Lead Education Assistant.
SCHEDULE

CPI. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Bilingual in Spanish/English required. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a diverse population. Experience working with teams, preferably in support of youth/students Experience in trauma-informed support systems preferred. Communicate effectively in both oral and written form. Authorized to work in the United States. Standard English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation. Use of standard office machines. Safe work practices and proper lifting techniques. Criminal record clearance and negative TB test results required before the first day of work. Applicants must possess strong oral and written communication skills in Spanish.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Effective communication with parents and students in Spanish as needed. Provide assistance with Spanish translation as needed. Maintain an effective and inclusive learning environment through student engagement, classroom management, and positive behavioral interventions and supports. Contribute updates on student progress towards academics through observation, interaction, and data collection. Facilitate age-appropriate interactions, activities and instruction for all students. Take appropriate action in crisis situations; follow protocol in a calm, collaborative and reasonable manner. Perform a variety of administrative tasks, including data entry, making copies, collating, gathering resource information/materials, etc. Food and meal preparation including breakfast, snack and lunches for students. Cleanup and organization for all areas of the campus, including classrooms, lunchroom, library, bathrooms and storage spaces.
Job Requirements:
High school diploma or GED Authorized to work in the United States. Criminal Record Clearance, TB clearance, and covid-19 vaccine before hire.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to lift up to 25 lbs (supplies) Walking with students Prolonged sitting and working on a computer and telephone.
