This position requires command of the English language. Also requires knowledge of pertinent academic areas and learning situations, as well as general needs and behaviors of students and students' recreational activities involving sports, games, arts and crafts. Must possess the ability to understand the needs of high school students and to effectively relate to these needs in a learning or recreational situation; learn the requirements of students in specific learning programs to which assigned; analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action; supervise students in a variety of situations; establish and maintain accurate classroom records and files; operate standard office equipment including computer keyboarding, copy machines, tape recorders and projectors; maintain calm and patience in stressful situations; understand and carry out oral and written instructions; establish and maintain cooperative work relationships with those contacted in the performance of required duties. Clerical experience and work involving the supervision of students is desirable.THE FOLLOWING ARE REQUIRED AND MUST BE SUBMITTED
High School Diploma or G.E.D.and one of the following:
Proof of passing Paraprofessional Exam from any district AA Degree or higher At least 48 college units or 72 quarter unitsA CRIMINAL HISTORY CHECK WILL BE REQUIRED OF SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE PRIOR TO EMPLOYMENT. DUTIES OF POSITION
Assist a certificated teacher in the instruction, supervision and training of an individual or group of students by providing a variety of instructional support, student care activities, and related duties in the maintenance of an effective learning environment. Under supervision, employees in this classification provide a variety of responsible instructional support activities to enhance the educational environment within the district and require a high degree of positive contact with both students and certificated staff.STARTING SALARY
