QUALIFICATIONS :
This position requires command of the English language. Also requires knowledge of pertinent academic areas and learning situations, as well as general needs and behaviors of students and students' recreational activities involving sports, games, arts and crafts. Must possess the ability to understand the needs of high school students and to effectively relate to these needs in a learning or recreational situation; learn the requirements of students in specific learning programs to which assigned; analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action; supervise students in a variety of situations; establish and maintain accurate classroom records and files; operate standard office equipment including computer keyboarding, copy machines, tape recorders and projectors; maintain calm and patience in stressful situations; understand and carry out oral and written instructions; establish and maintain cooperative work relationships with those contacted in the performance of required duties. Completion of the twelfth grade is required, preferably supplemented by college level courses.
AA DEGREE OR TWO YEARS OF COLLEGE COURSE WORK IS REQUIRED. A COPY OF THE DEGREE OR TRANSCRIPTS SHOWING COMPLETION OF AT LEAST 48 SEMESTERS UNITS OR 72 QUARTER UNITS MUST BE SUBMITTED WITH APPLICATION IN ORDER TO BE CONSIDERED. CERTIFICATION OF DISTRICT PROFICIENCY IN THE AREAS OF BASIC READING, WRITING AND MATHEMATICAL SKILLS MUST BE SUBMITTED WITH APPLICATION IN ORDER TO BE CONSIDERED . ONE OF THE FOLLOWING MAY BE SUBMITTED IN PLACE OF THE DISTRICT PROFICIENCY CERTIFICATE

FROM A REGIONAL ACCREDITED CALIFORNIA HIGH SCHOOL AFTER JANUARY 1, 1981
(G.E.D. does not fulfill the proficiency requirement)
PROOF OF SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF THE CBEST TEST POSSESSION OF A VALID CALIFORNIA TEACHING CREDENTIAL A CRIMINAL HISTORY CHECK WILL BE REQUIRED OF SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE PRIOR TO EMPLOYMENT. DUTIES OF POSITION
Assist a certificated teacher in the instruction, supervision and training of an individual or group of students by providing a variety of instructional support, student care activities, and related duties in the maintenance of an effective learning environment. Under supervision, employees in this classification provide a variety of responsible instructional support activities to enhance the educational environment within the District and require a high degree of positive contact with both students and certificated staff.
