Village Farm Program Manager GENERAL PURPOSE
The Village Exchange Center is a community center and multi-faith worship space that celebrates religious and cultural diversity by creating an inclusive environment where residents from all backgrounds can practice, interact, share, and develop together. We seek to assist the immigrant and refugee population to feel empowered to use their existing strengths and unique perspectives to enrich the city's diverse and inclusive community. Our Village Farm at Stanley is a 1.5 acre urban farm dedicated to increasing access to fresh and culturally relevant produce while serving as a gathering space for cultural exchange, education, and celebration. We see the farm as a classroom that can support our community to learn important life-skills, build community, and engage with the natural world in a fun and welcoming way. Our Urban Farming Immersion program is a 22-week vocational training program for immigrants and refugees. Participants are paid to learn how to grow food using sustainable practices, develop job readiness skills, and cultivate personal and professional connections through hands-on and classroom-based instruction. The primary role of the Village Farm Program Assistant is to assist with implementing the day-to-day responsibilities of managing an urban farm, help oversee the Urban Farming Immersion program, and assist with workshops and community events. This is a great opportunity for an individual with some relevant experience who is interested in being more involved in the nexus of sustainable farming, local food production, and local issues impacting communities that VEC serves. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
•Farm Production o Understand and help with the implementation of the annual crop plan o Assist in facilitating harvest to ensure high quality and timely production o Participate in and help coordinate all fieldwork activities from seeding to harvest o Assist with all cut flower social enterprise activities. Including, harvesting, arranging, and delivering bouquets. o Assist with produce and flower deliveries to local vendors o Assist with general construction and maintenance projects o Basic tool and equipment maintenance Programming o Assist with the delivery and oversight of the Urban Farming Immersion program. Including, attending all program days to help supervise participants and delegate tasks. o Assist with coordinating and implementing community events including fundraisers, celebrations and UFI alumni gatherings o Assist with partnership development, program evaluation and program planning, as needed 1 of 3•o Support launch and execution of new social enterprise activities, including farmstand to coincide with Stanley construction completes Volunteers and Interns o Help with coordinating and planning volunteer and intern projects o Assist with leading individual and group volunteers during community volunteer days o Assist with supervising volunteers and interns o Serve as a point of contact for volunteers and interns, field questions and delegate tasks as necessary Administrative o Participate in weekly staff meetings o Support internal VEC events, as needed o Assist with programmatic recordkeeping, data entry, and reporting SUPERVISORY DUTIES
This position will help oversee volunteers, interns, and program participants at Village Farm. SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Knowledge of regenerative agricultural growing practices 2+ years working in community agriculture, food security or a related field Self-directed and can take initiative and self-manage when working independently Experience working with diverse/multi-cultural teams Experience managing people and delegating tasks Strong interpersonal skills. Including, working with diverse populations, conflict resolution, public speaking, and partnership development. Ability to physically work within a variety of conditions, including working alone on occasion (i.e. endurance to work long days, in diverse weather conditions, standing or bending for long periods of time, lifting 50 pounds). Pragmatic and outcome-driven, as well as positive, forward-thinking, and interested in experimenting Knowledgeable about the political and cultural context of VEC community Ability to establish and maintain relationships with individuals and organizations of influence including vendors, community partners, and volunteers Bilingual preferred NOTE:

Part time, 10-20 hours per week, flexible depending on farm needs 2 of 3 HOURS:
