Instructional Paraprofessional Position Goal:
To increase student achievement in all K-5 students Offer consistent on-site support to school staff and students to ensure all students can engage in deep learning at school.
General Requirements:
Ability and desire to work with kindergarten through fifth grade aged students and support K-5 teachers Knowledge of and/or willingness to learn about foundational reading and math skills Ability to use and/or willingness to learn school assessments to monitor student progress Basic understanding of Word, Excel, and Apple iPad functions Ability to collaborate with teachers and staff Must be able to communicate effectively, follow written and oral instruction, district policies and technical materials Ability to lift to 40 pounds High school diploma or equivalent Preferred- Bilingual Spanish verbal and writing skills Performance Responsibilities Works one on one and/or with small groups of K-5th grade students Assists lead teachers in preparing materials and resources for instructional activities, including preparing print and digital instructional materials Monitor and reinforce appropriate student behavior during various activities, including, play, lunch, or in the classroom as required. Implements research-based instructional programs as designated; maintains up-to-date data and progress monitoring scores using technology software Utilizes positive behavior management techniques and school ROARS behavior systems in order to engage and keep students on task Supervises students in classrooms, halls, cafeterias, playgrounds, as needed. Demonstrates ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students in the school environment and community. Performs other non-instructional duties as assigned by the lead teacher, principal or his/her designee. Maintains a cooperative working relationship with the principal, supervising teachers, students, parents, staff, and public.
