In this vital role, you will support lead teachers in creating a nurturing, engaging, and inclusive learning environment for children across preschool and early childhood education settings. Your enthusiasm and commitment will help foster the development of young learners, especially those with diverse needs, including students with disabilities and autism spectrum disorders. Responsibilities Assist lead teachers in implementing curriculum plans aligned with early childhood education standards and the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). Support classroom management by encouraging positive behavior and applying behavior management techniques for students with special needs. Provide physical assistance and support for students with disabilities or developmental disabilities, ensuring their safety and comfort. Use effective communication skills, including American Sign Language when appropriate, to facilitate interactions with students with communication challenges. Collaborate closely with other professionals, such as speech therapists or special educators, to develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs). Help maintain a structured classroom environment by supporting lesson planning, literacy education, math activities, and curriculum development. Handle confidential information responsibly while supporting children's social-emotional growth and academic success. Requirements Prior experience working with children in preschool, childcare, or classroom support roles is highly preferred. Knowledge of childhood development principles and early childhood education practices. Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism spectrum disorders is desirable. Familiarity with classroom management techniques and behavior support strategies for students with special needs. Ability to assist with physical tasks related to student support and classroom activities. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively collaborate with team members and families. Basic math skills for assisting in instructional activities and record keeping.
